I don’t know if I qualify or not, but I just wanted to submit a picture with a bit about cosplay and body type. I have been a cosplayer for about ten years, and in those ten years I have fluctuated from 115 lbs to 165 lbs. Having to choose and make costumes for my changing body type has been difficult. I can’t make costumes for myself the way i used to make them when I was only 115 lbs. They need more structure, lining, interfacing, boning, just more work in general. I also have started to choose different styles of costumes to accommodate my body type depending on how much I weigh. I Feel that everyone should choose costumes they love, despite their body type, but (at least for me) it takes a lot of courage to put yourself out there in any costume especially when you are dealing with personal self image issues. Cosplay has been a way to express myself and my creativity for more than a decade, and I just wanted to say, Keep on doing what you’re doing. Cosplay is for everybody, it takes a lot of work and confidence to express yourself, and I am proud of all my fellow cosplayers for being such awesome people.
