BODY POSITIVE COSPLAY APPRECIATION!

Questions/Comments/Concerns   Submit
This is a body postive blog. This blog is for the love and appreciation of under appericated cosplayers. This love and appreciation is expressed through the posting of awesome, epic and badass cosplays who just so happen to be 'plus size', or otherwise have 'non-ideal' body types.

While the main focus of this blog is larger cosplayers, PLUS-SIZED DOES NOT EQUATE TO UGLY OR WRONG, FAT IS NOT A BAD WORD and being called plus-sized is not an insult! There are many body types that fall under this heading (for the purposes of this blog) and it is the intention of this blog to show that you don't need to be shaped like an action figure or a model to have brilliant cosplay and look amazing. The goal is to celebrate ALL body types that don't fall under the generally accepted 'ideal'.

Far too often we only see these cosplayers posted and used in order for people to body police and to tell others what they should and should do within a hobby that is meant to be fun, enjoyable and often times empowering.

There will be NONE of that nonsense here. If you submit and I feel that you are submitting something just to 'take the piss' and be an arsehole I will not post it. If it continues I will simply ban you. Likewise, if you reblog something from this blog and add anything nasty, mean, body-policing or out of turn I will block you from this blog.

I will not allow the mean-spirited trolls of the internets to muck-up what this blog is meant to be about.

I am not perfect and therefore may occasionally make blunders when sending things to the queue to share, but I will be taking extra care from now on when making queuing runs. If you find a photo of yourself here and you wish it not to be simply send a message to the ask box and it will be removed with apologies.

Thank you, Management.

This is a cosplay that I personally am really prod of. I know some of you may not think I am plus sized or that I belong on this blog but I promise you that even more people call me fat than don’t.I’ve been struggling with my weight for a long tome being told by doctors that I’m horribly overweight for my age and size. Wearing cosplays and cosplaying it’s self has helped me to gain more confidence about myself but I still struggle with it a lot.
For anybody who is wondering “How is she plus sized?”Well I was 180lbs am now 150lbs and still can’t find clothing that I can fit in because of the size of my stomach and waist. Id really like to share this image to you all and be a part of the community…  even thought I know how unlikely this post will make it past the admin because of my experience seeing plus sized cosplayer blog having a size requirement to being plus sized.

MOD NOTE: I struggled with whether or not I should edit the above submitted commentary before queuing this post, but ultimately decided to leave it be.As stated in the “about us” section, plus-sized, for the purposes of this blog, covers more than some arbitrary clothing size or number on the scale to include anyone who would fall outside the general accepted “ideal” body composition. The idea being to show that one doesn’t have to be a swimsuit model (or have the body of one) to have a brilliant cosplay or to be accepted and appreciated.
So, feywilde, welcome. I hope this will help you find a more positive and optimistic outlook on the body positive cosplay community.

I don’t know if I qualify or not, but I just wanted to submit a picture with a bit about cosplay and body type.  I have been a cosplayer for about ten years, and in those ten years I have fluctuated from 115 lbs to 165 lbs.  Having to choose and make costumes for my changing body type has been difficult.  I can’t make costumes for myself the way i used to make them when I was only 115 lbs.  They need more structure, lining, interfacing, boning, just more work in general.  I also have started to choose different styles of costumes to accommodate my body type depending on how much I weigh.  I Feel that everyone should choose costumes they love, despite their body type, but (at least for me) it takes a lot of courage to put yourself out there in any costume especially when you are dealing with personal self image issues.  Cosplay has been a way to express myself and my creativity for more than a decade, and I just wanted to say, Keep on doing what you’re doing.  Cosplay is for everybody, it takes a lot of work and confidence to express yourself, and I am proud of all my fellow cosplayers for being such awesome people.Costume:  Dragonair Gijinka from Pokemon
